Arts and testimony Creations Arts> Visual Arts Teaching Principles> term-creation creations online review No. 202 “Author several: cooperate by creating” announced in the new Educator 202 – Publication: June 2011 Class GS-GST kindergarten Champ Batard in Torcy (Saone et Loire) – Teacher: Brigitte Franz Mandalas Each year, before the Great spring Laundry, I invite parents to come in the classroom to achieve with their child a production that will be hung on the day of the Great Laundry. The idea is that every child initiates his parents in a classroom drawing data. In this session to “several hands” the only constraint is the shape: round allows you to explore an organization in different locations from induced rectangle or square. Children and parents are free to use the tools available in the class materials, children offer their parents techniques they have already worked. The achievements are hooked on the day of the Great Laundry. I shows children mandalas reproductions to observe how the space is occupied. Children realize mandalas in crayon on cork boards. I suggest to colleagues in city schools as children, at the end of the year, realizing a collective mandala in the yard of the recreation center with natural elements. Six classes are part of this project. Parents are asked to collect their children during family walks, sticks, pine cones, ferns, flowers … The town of Torcy also provides us with colored bark. The date of completion of the plant mandala all crops are pooled and classes come in turn to create the mandala. The students in my class start construction. Children work in groups, others prefer to be alone. Gradually, as the harvested material are depleted, the compositions are individualized and stand out.
